Thanksgiving weekend

Well I thought I would finally get along to posting from Thanksgiving weekend.

I am so thankful and greatful to be blessed with a wonderful husband and a wonderful family. They are the best people I could ever have in my life. It's so awesome knowing that there is always someone there for you whenever you need them and my family is awesome because they are always willing to help whenver we need them.
This Thanksgiving was kind of hard for me to be thankful for anything in my life because this year has been such a hard one for me and we just am not where we wanted to be in life right now.

Ya I am married to a great guy but I just pictured our life bigger right now for the 2 of us, we deserve it. 4 years ago I would have pictured us with a nice house with the white picketed fence and the kids running in the yard with the dog and us living the "American dream" but we aren't and it's kind of depressing. we have worked dang hard to get us to where we are now and it's hard trying your dardest and getting knocked down and out all the time.
I just feel like our lives are in a rut and we are just sitting here idling waiting for something great to come our way. The funny thing is, I wouldn't trade it for anything. Ya we aren't where I pictured our lives to be 3 1/2 years into marriage but I just look at what our lives will be like 10 years from now and I look forward to it because if we can make it through the past crazy 3 years than we can make it through anything.
But with all the trials we have been through this year I look at my family and realize that they have stood by us and supported us 100% of the way and we couldn't have made it this far without them and for that I am truly thankful for them.

Alright, enough of that stuff. Thanksgiving break was nice! That Wednesday night Danny and I packed up our stuff and headed up to my parents house for a few days, we met up with them and saw 4 Christmases and it was so funny. I just love Vince Vaughn I think he is hilarious.

Thursday we did the typical family dinners, we usually do both dinners because Danny's side of the family meets earlier on in the day for dinner and mine meets later so we are able to cram in both in one day. At Danny's house his mom had set up a humanitarian project and we sat tying quilts for a while. I really enjoyed doing that. It reminded me of when my mom and I would stay up at nights doing that.

Friday was the elusive "Black Friday Shopping" and there was no way I was waking up at the butt crack of dawn just to go shopping. But my mom did and what did she come home with?? oh a 52" plasma tv for $700 bucks!! not too shabby! it is really nice and I am totally jealous. So we begged her into letting us open it up and set it up before Christmas and she let us. Ya.. totally jealous!
Friday was a first for me.... I went to Wendover and gambled for the first time in my life. I went with my sister Rachelle and her 2 friends. I had alot of fun. I took 50 bucks with me and within the first 2 hours I had won $125!!! I was super excited than I got a few bad hands and lost 75 bucks but I ended up leaving Wendover with 50 bucks so I broke even. I had fun though and I would totally go back.

Saturday Danny and I finally decided we had had enough of my family and went home. We decided to go out to eat and go to a movie so we went to the dollar movie and saw "Ghost town" that's a good movie.. go see it.

Sunday we just stayed at home and rented House on DVD and stayed up till 4:30 in the morning watching it. which was fine because I didn't have to work in the morning.
11 years ago in January my cousin Shane died in a helicopter crash and every year since than my family have gotten together and has done a tree dedicated to him at the festival of trees. It is alot of fun. My aunts and everyone come, we set up the tree and go to lunch and just gossip and talk and have fun. Here is a couple pictures from the Festival set up.
Me, Raini and my mom.

Me, Aunt Sherrie, Raini, Mom, Aunt Jill, Grandma Fikstad and Aunt Glenda.
My mom made those cute snowmen. Here is one of the 2 trees we did.

Here is the main tree we did, the smaller tree was right next to it.

looks like you all had a lot of fun. Would love to start a tradition of doing a festival of trees tree!
by the way, a peice of good advice from my amazing brother when jeremy and i were having a hard time getting our boys here...don't compare your life to others. happily ever after isn't the same for everyone. live your life thankful everyday for the details of it, because there are always those who have it harder.
you are very blessed...and p.s. jer and i (8 years later) still aren't where we want to be either...
