Riley the wrestler

So Danny used to wrestle all through Jr. High and High school and he was really good at it. He went to the state finals all 4 years. Well he has been dying to get either Braedon or Riley to pick up the sport. Braedon never showed too much interest in the sport so when Riley hit Jr. High Danny was so excited because Riley would be perfect for wrestling. Before the Jr. High starts the season in January, Danny put Riley in a wrestling club so he can start to learn all the basics of wrestling.

He had a practice on Tuesday and on Thursday. Well in the club they have tournaments every Saturday so Danny thought it would be a great idea to put Riley in his first tournament, with only having wrestled twice!! We were told to be there at 8 a.m for him to weigh in and than we would wait for his age/weight group to be called.. little did we know that over 700 kids would show up to wrestle. Not only did 700 kids show up and all of their families showed as well.. we were all stuck in the teeny tiny Layton High School gym. The kids also wrested 3 times each. Riley didn't end up taking the mat until 2 o'clock. We were there for 6 hours, waiting for him to be called.

Well he finally was called and Rachelle, my mom and I were on the side lines biting our fingers we were so scared/worried for him. Poor Riley didn't know what to expect his first time around, sorry to say he got his butt kicked the first time but he put up a good fight. Danny is his coach and he was down on the ground yelling at Riley telling him moves to do. Riley was really scared. It was so sad to see him like that. The second kid he was supposed to wrestle went home so he won that one by forfeit. The third kid he wrestled was really really good, but he had been wrestling for 4 years already, mind you he is only 12. When Rachelle and I saw who Riley was going up against we both looked at each other and said "Oh crap!" because we saw this kid wrestle before Riley and win so we were worried for him. But surprisingly Riley did awesome! he ended up getting more points the second time than he did the first kid he wrestled. Riley ended up coming in 3rd place in his age/weight division which is great for his first time.

We were all worried that he was going to try this out and decided he didn't like doing it but he did awesome and he is excited to go back on Saturday and do it all over again. He hasn't taken off his medal all weekend.

On a different note, Friday night Danny and I went over to Raini and Jay's house for a rockband party. It was alot of fun. We also went over to Landon and Brandis house on Saturday for another rock band party. We are both doing a lot better at Rockband and are even considering getting it for Christmas. Since we don't do individual Christmas gifts, we only do 1 big gift for the both of us, it tends to work out just great!

Yesterday my whole family met up at Wheeler Farm in SLC and did family pictures. It is really hard getting 15 people to cooperate long enough to take pictures. Plus having 2 toddlers and a 3 month old baby. But it was a nice night, mom made chili and we had a picnic there at the park. It was fun.
A really dark picture of the family
Yesterday was my daddys birthday, He is 53 years young. He is an amazing dad and I couldn't ask for anyone greater to call my Daddy. I LOVE YOU DADDY!! thanks for all you do for me and for Danny.
Ok let me explain this picture. Danny has been trying to grow a goatee or something of that nature. Well he also has been growing what I referr to as the "Mexistache" he is such a baby face that he can't grow a mustache/goatee evenly. It grows in patches. and all sorts of different colors. I really don't mind the goatee he has going on, that doesnt look bad, it's just the Mexi look he has. So on Sunday I made him shave the upper lip for our family pictures and he was really bummed. So he made me take a picture of it before it went bye bye
